The Loire Valley lies at the heart of France. Much of French history has taken place along the Loire.

The length of the river, and the varied terrain, geology and climates through which it flows, make the Loire Valley the only region in France to produce excellent wines of every variety.

The cool climate of the Loire insures that the wines, no matter how ripe, will always have a lean acidity that balances well with their fruit and alcohol. From the crisp tangy white wines from around Nante at the western mouth of the Loire, through the central region of Anjou-Saumur and Touraine where not only are fine red, white and rosé wines made, but also the Loire's great sweet wines like Vouvray and where the Fines Bulles (fine bubbles), the Loire Valley's great sparkling Champagne Method wines, finally reaching the Eastern end of Sancerre where wines are made from just two grapes, white from Sauvignon Blanc and red wines from Pinot Noir.
